Elevate Government Affairs Hires Cantwell Veteran David Marten as an Executive Vice President and Expands into Washington State

(Washington, DC – 09/28/2022) Elevate Government Affairs, LLC is pleased to announce that David Marten is joining the firm effective October 1, 2022 as an Executive Vice President. David will split his time between Seattle, WA and Washington, DC.

David comes to Elevate with nearly a decade of experience leading successful legislative and political strategies, with a focus on transportation, tax, and environmental issues. He most recently served as Legislative Director for Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, where he oversaw the Senator’s legislative agenda and initiatives on the Commerce, Finance, Energy & Natural Resources, Indian Affairs, and Small Business Committees.

David worked to deliver hundreds of millions of dollars in federal infrastructure funding for Washington state priorities. As a key member of the Senator’s aviation policy team, he helped develop the financial support package for the U.S. commercial aviation industry included in the CARES Act during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and led the most significant reform of the federal aircraft certification process since the creation of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“David brings a unique skill set to Elevate with strong ties to Washington state and deep policy experience across the Senate Commerce and Finance Committees. We are so pleased to welcome David to the Elevate team,” said Co-Founder Sam Whitehorn.

Prior to his work in the Senate, David served as Deputy Director of Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s D.C. office, serving as one of the Governor’s primary liaisons with Congress and the executive branch. He began his D.C. career with former congressman Denny Heck (D-WA) and led the Congressman’s transportation, energy, environmental and tribal policy portfolio in the House of Representatives.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Elevate,” said David. “Jeff, Rob, and Sam have built a powerhouse team with deep subject-matter expertise and I’m excited to work alongside them to expand and deliver results for the firm’s clients.”
