In advance of the November midterm elections, Elevate has examined each House committee and evaluated who will serve as the Democratic and Republican leaders come the start of the 118th Congress. We have done so while considering announced departures and the competitiveness of certain Members’ elections. With 85 races considered competitive by the Cook Political Report, 66 announced departures, and with only seven of 435 seats needed to be flipped by Republicans for there to be a GOP majority next Congress, much hangs in the balance regarding committee leadership come 2023.
